Forever Families

Yesterday another forever family was celebrated.  This was the same family that I mentioned before.  I told you about the parents first meeting their daughter.  Well yesterday we held an adoption ceremony.  During the ceremony the housemother officially passes the child to the parents.  The housemother also says a few words about the child.  The parents also say a few words; this couple thanked everyone for taking care of their child.  They mentioned how they want their child to know the Basotho culture so they plan to bring her back to Lesotho when she’s older (she’s not even 1 yet!).  They had a Basotho dress made for her for the ceremony.  You could tell how much they respected the culture and wanted their child to know where she comes from.  Anita presented a few gifts to the family and then Bryan read some scripture.  Then we all gathered and prayed over the new forever family.  It is such a beautiful ceremony.  This is the second adoption ceremony I have experienced.  The first was on my very first day, the day I arrived.

I will get to experience another tomorrow.  A child who has been at Beautiful Gate for a long time finally met his forever family last week and we will celebrate his adoption tomorrow.  He’s 6 and has been here since he was very young.  He’s watched many friends come and go and now it’s his turn to go.  His turn to be in his forever family.  Praise God for His many blessings!

Another family will meet their child for the first time tomorrow.  It’s going to be a great day!

Please pray for regular matching meetings.  Please pray for orphanages to have the paperwork ready for the children eligible for adoption.  Please pray for the families looking to adopt.  Pray for good matches to be made at the next matching meeting.  Thank you for your prayers!
