Twelve Kids

Twelve new children arrived this evening.  They come from another care facility.  A care facility that wasn’t doing their job and is now being shut down by the government.  17 kids were moved from that care facility this evening.  5 are going to another facility.  These twelve kids bring our total to 71.

As we took these children to their houses, the looks on their faces broke my heart.  They looked confused, scared, didn’t have any idea what to expect.  They had been in a car for a couple hours since their former facility was a long ways away.

At first these kids looked good to me, but then I saw them a little more.  Saw them as they settled in a bit and I realized some were malnourished.  They had the bloated bellies and skinny arms.  A couple were sick and needed antibiotics.

We will know more about the overall health of the new kids tomorrow once the nurse has a chance to evaluate them.  Our volunteer nurse came by this evening when we found one child was pretty sick.  She evaluated the two sick children and will check on the rest tomorrow.

They arrived a little after 9 this evening.  The care staff are amazing.  They welcomed the children with open arms and open hearts.  They were ready despite the late hour.  They fed and bathed the children and now they are all in bed.  They are safely home.

Please pray for these children.  Pray they will adjust to being at Beautiful Gate and will bond with their housemothers.  Pray for their health.  Please pray for the care staff as they will have more work with the added children.  Pray for their stamina and health.
