Semongkong

Last weekend we decided to get away for a day and go to Semonkong.  The Geurinks, Terp, and Allan and Donna went.  Semonkong is about 4 hours away in the mountains.  You get to see more of Lesotho along the way and it is a beautiful country.

On the way, we saw some snow…

We had a snowball fight on the side of the road.  🙂

The Maletsunyane Falls in Semonkong and are gorgeous.

We ate lunch looking at the falls and posed for pictures.

It was beautiful to walk around the river.  And of course I had to take a self portrait.

It was cold last weekend, so a hat, gloves, and scarf were needed as you can see.

To get up to our cabin, we had to climb a bunch of stairs.  I realized how out of shape I am, but also enjoyed a beautiful view on the climb and from our cabin.

It was nice to get away for a night and relax.  We had a braai and enjoyed good food.  The only interesting part was the drive.  Since it rained in the week before we left and on Sunday when we came back, the roads were a bit rough and I mean they were really rough at least compared to the US.  At one point I went flying even though I was wearing a seat belt.  Roads in Africa are definitely different than back home.  The roads were bit messed up because they are working on the roads in that area so the roads were muddy and hard to get traction.  Fortunately I didn’t drive and the people that did were great drivers.

Anyway, it was a great weekend and I’m glad I got to see more of this beautiful country.
