As all of you back home head into summer, we here in Lesotho are heading into winter. And it’s a different kind of winter here then back home. During the day the sun is shining and it can be quite warm if you are standing in the sun. Inside though it is still very cold. Today, I had lunch with Margie and we sat in the shade to eat. It was cold by the end of lunch, so we grabbed chairs from inside my house and sat in the sun. Soon we were both rolling up our sleeves and enjoying the sun.
At night it gets to be quite cold. There is no central heating here. I haven’t used any of my heating devices yet, but have come close a couple nights. In my house we have heated mattress pads and one space heater. I’m trying to wait until it is definitely cold before I use them. I have found that with layers and blankets I can get through it.
The hard part is the difference in the temperature. It drops about 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit each night. But I guess I should be grateful, at least I get a break from the cold during the day.
Just a little insight into living in Lesotho. I hope all of you are enjoying the beautiful summer back home. Go out on the water and enjoy it!
