10 Months

10 months ago I arrived in Lesotho.  10 months ago a child was born.  This child was abandoned a month later in the forrest.  He was found by a police office a couple hours before a major hail storm hit, one that caused damage all over Maseru and made it look like it had snowed on campus.  His is a story of mercy.

Today, we celebrated the adoption ceremony of this 10 month old little boy.  He was adopted by a loving American family.  He has a mother, father, sister, and aunt who love him dearly.  He is blessed.

Near the end of November last year, Anita wrote a blog post about this child’s story.  The child’s adoptive mother read this blog post and knew in her heart this was her child.  When she told me this, I was amazed.  God’s promises are so beautiful.  God formed this family.

Today she mentioned at the adoption ceremony that when her son was 4 months old, she found out they were matched.  And once she heard his name, she knew this was the same child.  She knew her son.

And now, 6 months later, they are a family.  They are a family formed by God’s hand.  They will love this child and they are already a family.

10 months and this child now has a family.  He will not remember Beautiful Gate.  He will only know his family.

10 months I’ve been here.  10 months of seeing amazing things and experiencing many new families formed.  10 months and I’m still amazed by God and the work He does here at Beautiful Gate.
