New Moms

What goes through your mind when you meet your child for the first time?  Is it excitement?  Fear?  Happiness?  Love?

This week I saw a Mom and Dad meet their child for the first time.  They were so excited.  This was their first child.  They were getting their little boy that the perfect time.  He was just starting to walk and he seemed so comfortable in their arms when they met.

I remember the first family that arrived to pick up their child after I got here.  She was so excited and so nervous.  She didn’t know what to do.  She’d never had a child before, yet she knew this was her child.  By the end of the two weeks here in Lesotho, she knew her daughter, she knew when she was hungry, sad, needed a nappie change, she was her Mom.

I’m sure this family who picked up their child on Friday will have the same experience.

I am so thankful for all the families willing to adopt a child, a child not born to them, but a child who is their own.  A child who is designed by God to be their son or daughter.  Thank You Lord for these families.
