Life Sentence

How do you respond when you find out a little baby is HIV positive?  How should you react?  A child, an innocent little baby, has a disease that will impact his life in so many ways.

This child who is a couple of months old will have to take medicine every day for the rest of his life: A medicine which will make him sick to his stomach from time to time.  A medicine which he will have to take on a set schedule daily, within ten minutes of his usual time.

He will never be able to go without it.  He will always be more at risk when it comes to colds and flus.  He will always have this virus unless a miracle happens or a cure is found.

Yet he can live a good life as long as he continues on his medication.  He can be loved and cared for.  He can grow to adulthood and have children of his own.  I’m so grateful for the advancement in treatment to allow for people who are HIV positive to live as normal a life as possible.

Please pray for a cure.  Please pray for all affected by this horrible virus.  And please praise God for the medicines He’s provided to allow people to live normal lives with this disease.
