Lesotho Ladies Retreat

Friends – I have a lot to update you on after an amazing week away on safari, at a get-away and then doing outreach in the mountains of Lesotho.  But first, I have something to ask of you.

This past year and a half have been amazing here in Lesotho and I have been truly blessed by the love and friendship of fellow missionaries.  These missionaries work so hard on a daily basis to live out the life God has called them to, a life in a culture not their own.

Each year, a group of ladies puts together a retreat for all of the lady missionaries in Lesotho.  I’ve attended, and blogged about, the last two years and have found it to be a blessing, encouraging and relaxing time.

The ladies who attend come from many different ministries.  Some are wives of Mission Aviation Fellowship pilots working to take care of their home while their husbands are flying to some of the most dangerous air strips in the world.  Some are single missionaries who work in the mountains with Africa Inland Missions.  A few are International Missions Board missionaries working to spread the Gospel.  And others are ladies who work with orphans at different care facilities across the country.

These women are working here in Lesotho to spread the Word of God to many who have not heard it.  They are working to care for widows and orphans.  They are from all nationalities including a few local ladies.  Some get paid and others raise their support, living on very limited funds.

The retreat is held at Wynford Farms in South Africa the first weekend in November each year, this year November 7-9.  The cost for this year’s retreat is R1200 (approximately $120), more than in past years.  Many ladies are finding they cannot find that amount in their budgets this year.

Would you be willing to donate to help offset the costs for ladies who cannot afford the entire cost?  Would you be willing to help a missionary who needs some time away to spend time in prayer and recenter herself to help further her ministry?

If you would like to contribute to this, please email me at kmann.skates@gmail.com and I will give you the information for donating.  Thank you!
