Love

Yesterday a child was found and brought to our gate.  The child was 6 weeks old.  The woman who found him didn’t take him to the police or the Ministry, but straight to Beautiful Gate.  Now, we can’t accept a child in that way, we only take children placed at Beautiful Gate by the police or the Ministry of Social Development.

After taking him to the Ministry and also to the hospital, he was admitted last night.  He was crying so I took him to his new housemom and immediately she loved him.  She welcomed him with open arms and worked to figure out why he was crying.  By the time I left, she had him calmed down and eating.

The love shown by the housemothers each day here amazes me.  This same housemother had a child adopted earlier in the week.  A child who she loved dearly and was sad to see leaving, yet happy to see him in a family.  I can’t even imagine the heartbreak the housemothers go through as they welcome these children with open arms and hearts and then let them go when they have a family.

So, I ask you to remember our housemothers in your prayers.  Pray for their hearts.  That the broken hearts will be mended and they their hearts will continue to be open to all the beautiful children who come to Beautiful Gate. These women amaze me and I am so privileged and blessed to work with them and see them interact with our children.
