Prayers for Lesotho

This morning there was a coup attempt in Maseru.  The military surrounded police stations and the state house.  The Prime Minister fled to South Africa for fear of his life.  This was a bloodless coup attempt.  The Prime Minister is alive and well in South Africa and wants to come back to Lesotho.  He will return once he feels safe.

Obviously, there is political unrest here.  Please pray for a peaceful solution between the different political parties.

We are fine here at Beautiful Gate.  We are paying attention to what is going on in Maseru, but we are on the outskirts of the city and have not felt anything.  Our staff is paying attention to what is going on and keeping us informed.  Also, the US Embassy is keeping us informed.  All is well.

If you would like to read more about what is going on, check out this BBC News article summarizing what happened this morning.

So, please know all is well here.  The American Embassy is saying it is okay to go into town, but to keep our wits about us and to be home before dark.  They are being cautious, and so are we.  We plan to keep informed and play it safe.

Please keep Lesotho in your prayers.  Pray for all of this to be resolved peacefully.  Thank you!

You and Lesotho came to mind literally out of no where this morning. I said a quick prayer for the country over my breakfast. Hadn’t heard anything about the political unrest until now. Will keep you all in prayer.

    Dear friends,
May The Lord bless you and keep you all safe at Beautiful Gate. May the children be safe in His arms and a hedge of protection around the campus. May The Lord triumph in this matter!

Will continue to keep you and all the children and staff of Beautiful Gate in my prayers.
